UNDP/World Bank PSIA Workshop in Moldova (March 2003)
The social welfare system in Moldova is being developed in a changing economic and social environment characteristic of an economy in transition. The Government is restructuring the social insurance and social assistance programs as well as initiating programs towards empowerment of the poor and vulnerable.
On March 20 and 21, 2003, UNDP and the World Bank carried out its 5th workshop and first in the series of seminars dedicated to social policy analysis in Moldova. The workshop, titled "Analysis of anti-poverty impact of social public spending," looked at several major frameworks for poverty-focused analysis, including the PSIA approach. The workshop then used these approaches to assess the impact of social public spending in education, health and on in-cash transfers.
