Evaluation Clinic at the Human Development Network: Design and Evaluation of Conditional Cash
Transfers for Maternal and Child Health in Pakistan,
November 1, 2004, from 1:00-3:00 pm. Location: G8-099
In this session, we discussed the implementation of conditional cash transfers for maternal and child health in Pakistan. We particularly encouraged participation of people who are working or have worked on similar projects and are interested in evaluations.
About the Evaluation Clinic
The Evaluation Clinic‘s mission is to support Task Team Leaders (TTL's) in the design of impact evaluations for their projects. The clinic provides on-demand, customized and hands-on support to TTL's by helping them think through possible ways of structuring their project so that its impact can be assessed. While such an evaluation is not always possible, the idea is to increase the Bank's knowledge on what works and what doesn't (and why), contributing to the Bank's results orientation. The evaluation's core team currently consists of Paul Gertler, Chief Economist HD Network, and Christel Vermeersch, YPP at the HDNVP Unit. Sessions are organized at TTLs' request around particular projects, and are open to everyone interested in impact evaluation of that project or similar projects.
Background information for this session of the Evaluation Clinic
There was a brief presentation on the context in Pakistan, the use of a poverty reduction support credit (PRSC), and the specifics of how to implement and evaluate such a conditional cash transfer (CCT) program by Benjamin Loevinsohn, Senior Health Specialist, SASHD, at the beginning of the session. The rest of the session was devoted to discussing evaluation strategies for this project.
P.S. If you would like to be included in the invite list of the future evaluation clinics, please let Susan Sebastian, know at ssebastian1@worldbank.org, or call (202) 473-3665.
