Projects and Policies

For the design, implementation, and coordination of a set of projects to achieve global environmental objectives in a particular focal area, ten Operational Programs were set out in the GEF Operational Strategy that was adopted by the Council in October 1995.

Since then, three additional Operational Programs were added and a fourth is in draft. Each project must meet its technical eligibility criteria set forth in the Operational Programs to get GEF grants.

The links (on the left) under this section provide information about the 15 GEF Operational Programs and some project examples at various stages of project cycle.
