Full-Sized Project

GEF Full-Sized projects follow the Bank’s project cycle and standard project procedures.  On average, it takes about three years for a full-sized project from identification, preparation to approval. Project preparation grants are available for the development of full-sized projects. Along with the Bank’s standard project procedure, each full-sized project is subject to GEF’s project eligibility criteria.  Information on the GEF’s project cycle and eligibility criteria are available from the GEF Secretariat's web site (see the link below).

The average size of GEF grant for Bank implemented GEF co-financed projects is about US$ 10 million, although their scale widely varies by focal area and country. The average project implementation period is 6 years.
