Partnership Programs

As recognized in the Bank's Forest Strategy, forests are playing an increasingly important role in poverty alleviation, economic development and in providing local as well as global environmental services. Success in establishing sustainable forest management practices depends not only on changing the behavior of all critical stakeholders, but also on a wide range of partnerships to accomplish what no country, government agency, donor, or interest group can do alone. It is for this reason that partnerships provide much of the basis for implementation of the Bank's Forest Strategy.

Partners include national and local governments, people living in and near forest areas, international organizations, donor agencies, NGOs, the private sector and other stakeholders. For more information please see the sub-sections to the left.
