External Advisory Group

An external advisory group (EAG) assists in guiding and evaluating implementation of the World Bank’s forest strategy. Members of the EAG regularly advise the President of the World Bank as to their views regarding the status of the forest program. The EAG members consist of a core group of advisers from international organizations, research institutes, and client country governments, supported by a broader pool of experts and representatives from major stakeholder groups (client governments, civil society groups, academic and private sector interests, and major donor partners) that are called upon as needed to form small teams to address specific tasks. The EAG terms of reference sets out the groups working modalities. The EAG prepares notes documenting discussion at their meetings. Currently, meeting notes from September 2003 and May 2004 are available. The EAG communicates its views and recommendations on implementation of the Forests Strategy via a letter to the ESSD Vice Presidency. The EAG correspondence log documents the exchange between the EAG and ESSD VP.
